Mocha Milkshake Recipe
GF Recipe Summary
Exclusive recipe from our Gluten-Free Gourmet Desserts Cookbook collection (pages 208-209)
Gluten-Free Mocha Milkshake: A cool and refreshing milkshake featuring a blend of chocolate and coffee, topped with a bit of whipped cream and grated chocolate.
In my opinion, a Mocha Milkshake is about as refreshing as things get on a warm day.
And, if you want to try a vegetarian / vegan version of this milkshake, see my blog entry from 2010 where I provide this Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Milk-Free Milkshake : Healthy Diet Recipe / Method — using frozen watermelon as a key ingredient to achieve a very delightful texture. I have also provided various chia-seed based diet milkshake recipes over the years featuring my Chia-Seed Slurry and Ice-Cubes Recipe and pumpkin and more.

½ Cup Crushed Ice (4 or 5 Ice Cubes) 1 Teaspoon Instant Coffee 1½ Cups Milk (or Soymilk) 1-2 Cups Chocolate Ice Cream (vary for desired consistency)
- Place crushed ice into blender — or, if starting with ice cubes instead, place cubes in blender and grind into finely chopped particles.
- Add remaining ingredients. Vary ice cream amount based on the type of milkshake consistency you prefer — for thinner shakes, use one cup of ice cream, and for thickest shakes use twice that amount.
- Blend on medium speed just long enough to evenly mix all ingredients.
- Optionally, for both taste and presentation, garnish with whipped cream or non-dairy whipped topping, and top with shaved chocolate (as pictured).
